I played the game during Early Access and in its final state (which the review is for). In Barbara-Ian you clear a level and descent deeper into the dungeon. You can find different weapons that really make a difference to your gameplay. Combine that with Barbara-Ians slick moves, only ONE hitpoint and some mean traps and you are up for a good amount of fun. Unfortunately the game feels unfinished and you will encounter bugs (falling through the floor, levitating) or run out of things to explore pretty fast. I liked the direction the game was going during Early Access, but the final release disappoints due to the lack of polish. Barbara-Ian plays fluently, the button layout makes sense to me and is rebindable. Music and sound fit the scenario. The visuals are clean and distinct. More lights here and there wouldn't harm, if the hammer of the gods goes all over the place again (no pun intended), destroying light sources. You can have some fun with the game, just don't set your expec...

About This Game

You play Barbara-ian, a mythical badass with perma-rage & a penchant for smashing. Featuring super fast paced physics based mayhem, one hit is all that stands between you and a quick restart
Barbara-ian is a randomly generated dungeon crawler focused on pure action! Gameplay consists of marauding through dungeons smashing everything in your path - doors, tombs, gelatinous cubes etc - using physics-driven combat ensuring nothing stands in your way. Smash through chests & loot the weapons inside to progress deeper into dungeonland!
Unlike other dungeon crawler heroes, Barbara-ian has no inventory, no skill system, no health bars. She doesn't want to duel with her enemies, doesn't want to carry a bag full of callipers OR tongs, and she doesn't need a spreadsheet to tell her how to kick ♥♥♥. One hit is all it takes to kill anything, even her!
In terms of progress, the game is feature complete and very playable but we want to add content content content and we need your feedback in order to do this. Early adopters can expect to be part of a rapid and responsive development process, as zany and oddball weapons fill Barbara-ian's arsenal, a multitude of labyrinthine dungeons are unearthed and enemies spring from the pages of our classic D&D Monster Manual!
We hope you'll join us and Barbara-ian for the ride!

The game is great so far! Massivley addictive goblin squashing fun that feels like a cross between Alien Breed and Hotline Miami. The game is at it's best when running through small dark dungeons encountering a few enemies only to burst through a door into a cavernous space full of swarming goblins and traps. The one hit-point gameplay really gets your heart racing in these situtations but unfortunately can cause a fair amount of frustration when you spawn into a new level directly on top of a hord or bad guys and get insta killed! Despite being a little rough round the edges Barbara Ian shows amazing promise and I can't wait for the next update. Well worth the price of half a pint!
Half woman, half man; all action. A chaotic neon soaked dungeon run. One hit and you're dead, and everything is so dreadfully dangerous. Procedural levels, ridiculous weapons, hordes of enemies; a continual cycle of death and rebirth. Bugs are present, the game feels incomplete, but there's fun to be had... on sale. Just one more "one more go".
This game is difficult. This game will anger you. This game will kill you... a lot. But all the deaths and quick restarts make completing a level so satisfying! Pros:

Wonderful soundtrack
Fast-paced combat
Nice voxel graphics
Cons:

Can't switch the weapon
Sometime is too dark
This is a good indie game!
its ok, a bit repeptitive nowadays. Not much to do tho.
The Vampire Survivor before Vampire Survivor. Genuine fun and pretty addicting for the simplicity.
Not too bad. It’s a fun enough little game.
I wasnt sure if I whould like it becaus of the one hp but because of how fast you are and how easy it is to hit and run makes it suprisingly enjoyable. I just wish you could make a custum game with things like more enemies(i fell that is lacking enemises alot of the time) extra speed, spawn with a cool weapon, extra health or other things
An excellent hack'n'slash game- enfuriating, exciting and adrenaline- pumping randomly generated indie action that'll keep you hooked just so you can try amd beat it so you can say "screw you" to the developers for making such a tricky game :)
Best game 2017 10/10 5 STARS!!
