About This Game

THE STORY:

Horryefieing: High-Rise is a prologue to the upcoming Horryefieing: The Circle Mansion. This game is a short survival horror experience set in the year 2001 in which you take on the role of Angel Boyd, an English archaeologist that has recently returned from an excavation at Battle Abbey in East Sussex (the famous location of the Battle Of Hastings, 1066)

Strange things have been happening in East Sussex which will prove very important in upcoming games in the Horryefieing Universe and Angel Boyd, having recently lead an archaeological dig near the source of this disturbance,  unearthed some ancient documents that he felt would be of importance to The Circle, a paranormal investigation team that specialises in demonic activity and who is currently in charge of investigating the paranormal activity taking place in East Sussex.

Choosing to post these findings to the team, he must escape the tower block in which he is currently living as it gets attacked by demonic forces as they kill and possess the residents of the building, tuning them into zombie-like creatures known as Damnables.

They do not want you getting out of this building to post those documents. And they will do all they can to prevent it.

INFORMATION:

*Angel Boyd has access to a flashlight, a vintage pistol and a wrench. That's all you get. The wrench is infinite, but very weak. The vintage pistol is far more effective, but bullets are limited. Only use bullets when you really need too. The flashlight is a life saver in dark areas... if you have batteries.

*Even if you have full ammo, there are moments when it will not help you whatsoever.

*Always remain alert. As you progress through the game, more and more people in the tower-block will be getting possessed meaning more and more Damnables will start to appear. Just because you were able to clear out an area doesn't mean it is now safe.

This game takes place one week before the events of the upcoming Horryefieing: Circle Mansion, set to release in the near future, and acts as a short survivial horror prologue to that game.

A good game in itself, or rather a good prologue. I've been following the project on social media for a while and was really looking forward to the release. €8.79 is a hefty price, but I'm happy to support indie developers if I enjoy the game enough. First of all, turn off the annoying VHS filter and adjust the controls. I know it's based on the GZDOOM engine, but wtf is that weird early 90s key layout? Anyway, the first few minutes of the game started off well and were very atmospheric. I immediately loved the simple pixel graphics and the sound. I was surprised that you could interact with so many objects at the beginning (not so much later in the game). But interacting here just means making a comment about them and nothing more happens. For example, you can't turn on taps or anything like that (a shame). You briefly explore your room (saving on typewriters, as is usual in survival horror, awesome!) and the floor and, while talking to other residents, realize that you are trapped ...
