I'm a sucker for obscure indie shooters and have a lot of patience for rough edges - SRSD looked promising to me with a low budget horror charm, but sadly the fun factor is overridden by drastic issues with the combat balancing that make the game incredibly hard in an unfair way. The issue is that enemies run at you super fast, while guns don't make them flinch - combine this with the fact that player movement is slower than many of the enemies and there are no dodge or block functions and the result is a lot of deaths that feel totally impossible to avoid. I spend more than half of each fight sprinting away from the enemy to try and reload without taking damage, but almost every time I'd still end up taking hits. To me, this makes the game unplayable - there's no fun in a game that punishes unfairly; especially when the player has no way to get around the problem.
