There's no orbs. Plus, I can't get past the first area. 10/10 would buy again,
not a bad first indie project from this dev, incorporates decent level design, as well as discovery. combat is lacking a bit but this game was focused primarily on discovery and finding the orbs, rather then combat and bosses like the normal souls game. this just takes place in a souls formatted world. for a dollar, i enjoyed it despite it being so short and i think if the dev incorps some more combat and polish in the future, this game has a good foundation to build off of. good job, and i will keep an eye out for future stuff!
TLDR; The game is short and fun, has some cool unique features, but also lacks some polish. This game isn't very long and it isn't something jaw dropping either. However I think that to some people (like myself) this is a very cheap source of a little bit of fun. The games combat isn't great but the different weapons and the 2 different orbs keep it fresh. The exploration is also very fun, finding all the collectables can be challenging but is rewarding when you finally get them all. There is also unique systems in this game I haven't seen in other souls-likes. Some of these features are in the gameplay like this cool feature where after killing an enemy the next time it respawns it has more health, this makes it so that even as you get more health boosts and stamina boosts the enemies grow with you. I also like the fact that the enemies have a stamina which limits them to using their higher damage moves less often. For features not in the gameplay there is a "mods" section in the main...
Off the bat this one needs a lot of work. The camera sensitivity is extremely low. Can barely turn the camera left or right even with mouse DPI turned up. It's also not clear as to how to pass thru the first area. All of the gates were closed it seems with no way to open? I also dont like how the enemies come back to life after bein defeated.. This puts the player character at risk since we can't get our health back. Issues such as those mentioned need to be ironed out. The game is at a decent price to try it out but still get those issues sorted dev. I'll middle thumb it up due to potential. Gameplay impressions: https://youtu.be/o2Rp56BBbn0
Awkward and clunky, but $0.99 is a fair price for what it is especially since it's so short. The combat and level design which are ostensibly meant to be the draw here, are not tight and the stamina mechanic feels cumbersome. A stamina and HP bar I think would make this feel significantly more put together; the fact that they're just numbers above the player's head makes it feel cobbled together and hard to understand.
This is dark souls 4
