About This Game
User Reviews
Total Ware Pharaoh is a good RTS/TBS with a lot of interesting mechanics. It's play is entertaining and thoughtful. Political machinations and real time battlefield tactics create an immersive environment that can be somewhat overwhelming at times, but always puts you in the mindset of a bronze age megalomaniac. Fantastic fun for anyone who loves Egypt, the Hittite empire, or just bronze age cultures.
This does not bode well for the full launch of this game. I won't spoil too much. But I can anticipate that this game when it's fully released will be rated somewhere between mixed and overwhelmingly negative. CA went from being one of the most loved companies to slowly turning to have a reputation somewhere between EA and United Airlines. I will give this game some credit where it's due and that is I love the warrior king concept with the characters, this is a actually truly historical title as thankfully unlike troy there are no fantasy or magical elements, and the graphics are beautiful. What I do anticipate this game getting knocked for more than anything are the new systems and mechanics, horrible ui, and overly complex nature of the systems and mechanics. I can understand trying to woo the history players who gave up on the total war series at least mostly after warhammer (myself included) to play paradox games by trying to include more elements of economic and political manage...
i knew better than to preorder. why does CA make such good games like rome2 and warhammer 2 and then move so far backwards its like they took everything great about the last game and said "f it"
It only LOOKS like Troy but it is most definitely unique to other TW titles. Anti-player bias from the AI is definitely less compared to Troy.
To Many Outpost option, Troy + Napoleon + Rome + Samurai Total war Style of city management are Preferable (simple Provinces city Building) dont like the general skill upgrade - it look like the Three kingdom total war, to complicate with to many options
Overall i had good experience with early access game. The game have some new mechanics and little bit more of micromanagement than previous titles which is good. Hopefully one day it will come closer to games like Imperator Rome :-) Game on hard level was a bit challenging as needed to learn the mechanics. You really need to make sure all resources are up and running for the campaign to go forward. Map looks really smashing. Battles look well especially visuals and sounds. To early for me to comment on other features such us AI, balance, etc. Looking forward to completing the campaign and becoming Pharaoh!
Really cool faction and battle mechanics. Very pretty and runs well. Loads of potential in cultures and map expansions. Keen :)
The overall campaign map level game design for both Caananite and Egyptians seems well designed. Some things like finding and selecting different generals seems a bit awkward, but overall it's a well made game using the Troy TW engine. I wish naval combat was included, for the Ancient Egyptians were notable and precocious in that area. Presumably it might be an engine or resource issue. Anyhow, enjoyable.
I will start with this - It is not perfect. It still has some minor issues and bugs that need to be worked out that I hope to see fixed in the future. That having been said, I am still excited for this game and where the Sofia team will take it. I was one of the early fans of the game as I have always found the bronze age fascinating and despite some SERIOUS bad decisions by upper management in the company these past few months I always held out hope that this would be a good game and this pre-release build is a promising indicator of that. If you liked Troy, you will like this. If you didn't or the time period doesn't interest you then you probably won't. If your on the fence then I recommend you wait for a good sale, which may come pretty soon if the community is any indicator as to how well this will sell on release. This game has too many good features and changes to not support, and I hope we see them in the future.
