I've played through the intro and first track a couple times from itch.io. Good to see Lifelike on Steam! Just checked out a bit of the intro on the steam deck and it looks great. I had to adjust the controller settings but it was super simple and I exported the layout to the community. This is a fun and quirky RPG with a cool story, characters, and premise. The pixel art is great! Combat system is fun too. Looking forward to track 2 and playing this again on the Deck. Great Indie game that you should play if it all looks interesting to you. Oh yeah, the music is fantastic!!!!!!

About This Game
What Is LIFELIKE?

- Pesky living appliances have taken over the rural streets of Greenbury, Ohio! The sudden outbreak occurred after Nathan Weeks—local appliance store owner known for experimenting with magic—was found dead on the pavement outside his business. Rumor had it, he’d been attempting to create a Lifelike… An impossible magical being in a robotic body comparable to a human.
- Play as Nathan’s grandchild, Leo, a tired teen who’s falsely blamed for the appliances. Trounce toasters, lamps, and other misbehaving machinery as Leo responds to a weird call for help at the condemned appliance store.

- The world of LIFELIKE is a marriage of fantasy and science fiction set in the late 2000s where magic users bend electromagnetic waves to their will. Turn based magic attacks adapt real-life wave behavior into fast paced action-command style combat. Even during enemy phases, players can defend against attacks and send them back to deal more damage.

- Purchasing LIFELIKE extends to all future episodes of the game released to Steam. Think of it as a preorder but you get some content up front! Sweet!

"Just another day in Ohio" The characters are relatable, the story intriguing and having some surprises. The artstyle may not be for everyone but I think it's charming, especially how well some scenes are animated.
I got murdered by a spoon 10/10
It's pretty interesting, and decently fun so far. I'm excited to see how this game ends up.
For full clarity I do animation for LIFELIKE but I was brought on to do so during Track 2's development. LIFELIKE is a game that's focused on telling a story and building a world and in my opinion it does so incredibly well, there are small details everywhere that both help the fictional world of Ohio feel lived in as well as enhance the story and the player's understanding of it as a whole. LIFELIKE uses a turn based battle system with a timed hits mechanic for when you do get into a tussle, the combat is simultaneously really well thought out and simple. The strategies in combat you can pull later on are just fun to see executed. My only issues with the game sadly also are part of the combat system; in LIFELIKE when you use magic you can choose between AM and FM to take advantage of an enemy's weakness- however, unless I missed something there isn't much in the way of a signifier of what an enemy is weak to without trial and error which can sometimes be a let down given how you oft...
LIFELIKE is a character/story focused RPG set in the corn-brimming, distant lands of Ohio. It does a great job setting up its mysteries, to the point that having to wait for the full release is kinda killing me. It features some impressively-animated cutscenes, specially for a pixel-art game. Some of the character movements are so fluid that it feels like they were mocapped or rotoscoped. The soundtrack is wonderfully goofy, going the extra mile for characterization. For instance, one of the tracks uses pots and pans as instruments because the scene it plays features them predominantly for... reasons... My main criticism is that I'd like to see the battle system a bit more beefed up. I can't wait for the full release!
played it before on itch, but it's pretty good! If it seems interesting to you, you'll probaby enjoy it!
Decent for an early access game. Some stuff like action commands could use some extra punch to make it feel better to execute. Also, I think this game might be abandoned? Shame, I was really excited for this game when it launched. My only source of info was the mother directs so maybe there's just a social media account or something I haven't seen.
After playing Overture and Track 1, this is one of my favorite Indie games with a lot of promise. This game was clearly made with love and care. One of my favorite parts of this game was looking at the artstyle and I'm looking forward to seeing how the story evolves in the next couple of tracks.
The ambiance is really what sells it for me, really well crafted
