About This Game
PsiloSybil is a classic linear 3D platformer with a faithful mid-90s look and brutal difficulty. You must guide plucky mushroom Sybil across a colourful world of devilish traps and defeat the evil master of all hogs, Lord Nutmeg, to set free all of shroom-kind. In each of PsiloSybil's handcrafted levels, alternating different playstyles and aesthetics, you'll meet a unique mushroom character held captive by Nutmeg's boar minions. Freeing them is not going to be easy!
The game also provides time trial challenges, and an optional arcade mode which reintroduces lives and removes collectables. It is also perfectly deterministic and employs no RNG, which makes it perfect for speedrunning.
PsiloSybil strives to reconstruct the classic look of PS1 titles. Not only are the world, characters, and objects modeled and textured with the limitations and visual trends of the time in mind: a full suite of visual effects ranging from vertex snapping to an emulation of composite analog video enhances the experience. All of this is customisable and you have detailed control over each component.
It may be an homage to a certain marsupial game.

An excruciating battle from start to finish. Every part of this game was made to kill you in some way. Just beating the game was harder than any Crash Bandicoot game ever. That isn't even beginning to consider the torture of getting all of the collectibles. I got two thirds of the mushrooms and gold skulls, but gave up because some levels were just too much. If you are a fan of difficult platformers, then I highly recommend Psilosybil. But do not worry about 100%, it will drive you insane. However I will say that despite the fact that many levels took over an hour just to get the time trial, it was very fun and the rush was almost incomparable.
Why did the mushroom go to the party? Because he wanted a piece of that PsiloSybil. Recommended for fans of shrooms. 3 psilocybins out of 5
Years ago when the Crash N Sane Trilogy came out people and journalists were quick to treat it as "the Dark Souls of 3D platforming". This was probably in reference to its difficulty as some did not remember or vibe with the gameplay or haven't encountered such a level design in decades or ever. Despite suffering from issues due to limitations leading to tough sections, these games were never contenders for the title. And after playing this game I'm more certain than ever. Psilosybil sells itself as a "tough as nails" 3D platformer with an aesthetic that right from the get-go reminds us of the original PlayStation era. Indeed, its limited polygon count has a charm portrayed from the trailer, luring fans of platformers from that era to give it a go in order to relive those memories. Furthermore, there's the music featuring xylophone, pan flutes here and there among other instruments typical from those games, and that also applies to the sound effects coming from the movement, level a...
as a huge crash fan and when i say huge i mean A REALLY BIG FAN doing pretty much everything across the entire franchise i started playing this thinking to myself "how hard can it be?'' and then i died 75 times when grabbing all the mushrooms on level three. now i know that may sound bad, but even after all these deaths i just couldnt put the controller down. while most crash like games adapt the crash 2 ish gameplay, this one is all about crash 1: taking a simple moveset and utilizing it to the max. this game is hard, you will die, but fair checkpoint placements and great level design will make you not stop playing. every time you finish a level you get an insane amount of accomplishment only to be thrown a greater challenge in your face when you enter the next level. the graphics are really good, they emulate ps1 graphics without looking jarring, and if you dont want the retro filter you have a lot of customization in the settings. the game has a lot of content 26 full levels with ti...
