About This Game

"Hail, party leader! So, you wish to test your mettle against the dangers of the world? Riches, glory, and power can all be yours...if you survive." - Vardok, Party Leader Extraordinaire

Skillsworn is a low-poly, party-based, turn based adventure game. Take on the role of a fresh party leader and embark on a journey through the wilds of Thera to stabilize the lands in the name of the King! Build and adapt your party members skills in order to defeat terrifying foes. Craft powerful weapons, armor, and artifacts to grow your fame. Defeat a variety of dangerous foes and prove that you are not just another bored peasant seeking a thrill.

Adventure awaits!

Discover New Locations

Embark on adventures through a multitude of different hand-crafted maps. Lead your party across arid deserts, snowy peaks, goblin infested forests, and putrid swamps. Each area provides a unique experience and challenge to you and your party. Choose your destination wisely, as a variety of unique and challenging encounters lie ahead!

Discover New Skills

Diversify and adapt your party members by risking their lives to capture 125+ skills. Skills can be acquired by defeating monsters, but most powerful skills can only be obtained by defeating the most powerful enemies. An endless variety of skill and equipment combinations ensure the maximum amount of pleasure for those who enjoy discovering new and innovative ways of eradicating the enemies of the King!

Discover New Equipment

Collect materials from slain foes and use them to craft new equipment and weapons. Choose from 25+ armors and weapons that provide unique benefits rather than just an increase in numbers. The type of skills your party members can equip are based on the weapons they wield. Will you choose a defensive sword to deal damage to your attackers when you block their attacks, or a fire wand to set your enemies ablaze whenever you hit with an attack or projectile spell? Perhaps you will chance upon the legendary Flameblade of Ignus, allowing you to equip both fire and sword skills with a single weapon slot.

The choice is yours!

Discover New Foes

The world is a dangerous place, and it is filled with those who would cause unpleasantness to the King. From the dastardly Boglins whom pour from the darkened depths of the Endless Bog, vile undead born of a mysterious magic, and the mind warping aberrations which exist only in nightmares, throughout your adventures you will encounter a variety of enemies each with their own set of skills and challenges.

Only the brave or foolish will survive!

Discover New Allies

A party leader is nothing without party members. Recruit and equip your party members and face ever increasingly dangerous enemies. Whether you throw your party members into the fray with reckless abandon, or utilize protective skills to embolden your party members is up to you. Beware, however, that death is permanent in the barbarous lands of Thera!

Promising start to what could be a great game. I played about an hour and recorded my entire playthrough onto YouTube, my main takeaways for improvements are: 1 - Lack of ability to move the camera around the battlefield. Would be easier to strategize and figure out where your enemies are located. 2 - Striking an enemy and being blocked, then immediately striking the enemy again from the opposite direction and being blocked. I feel as though one of those attacks should land as the enemy would have to face one of those attacks, but not enough time for both. 3 - The amount of arrows on a characters health. Example: 70>>>>>>>. Makes it seem like the character is going to regenerate an otherworldly amount of health when they are only getting +8 at the end of their turn. Outside of these very few nit-picky issues, this game is a ton of fun and right up my alley. If you enjoy turn-based, hex combat like Xcom... Check this out, especially when it's marked as low as it is when I picked it...

Fun turn based tactical RPG with a unique twist on character/party progression. Party power progression is tied to gears and skills unlocks and there is no character level per se. So while the game has only perma death, penalty from a character death is not too harsh (i.e. you lose the value of the skills and gears equipped on that character, which you can make it back in a few battles). The game is currently in early EA, so there's only about 10 hours of content and it's a little grindy. However, it shows good promise so far and I think it will get even better as more contents are added. If you like Battle Brothers type of games, this is definitely a worthy addition to your library, especially at the current price level of $5.99.

You can tell this was made with a lot of love. I was surprised to see character customization for each party member, including weapons/builds. The game ramps you up at a good pace without feeling like you need a separate tutorial to figure out what's going on. Combat has a good flow and starts off casual. You can take a moment to pause and think as needed without it feeling like it's slowing down the pace of the game. The townsfolk are engaging and it's kinda nice to not have to walk to each person to chat in between quests. I look forward to playing more and hope for the addition of achievements!

So far its very interesting. Of course its early access so it could be good or bad. But the price is right for what it is and I enjoy playing. The matches are just long enough not to be a slog. I'm getting a party that has some synergy. A few bugs but again early access. I don't mind putting my money into something as long as I get a few hours of enjoyment out of it.

Really cool game with a great start, even for early access. I have been having a blast so far and I really like the skill based progression system. The character customization is a nice touch too - I look forward to seeing more! Runs really well on steam deck, controls are easy to set up - you do need to use the track pad.
