if you don't play the nightmare levels, you wouldn't understand the game.

This is a very simple game that tells a surrealistic story. The minimalistic graphics works for the story being told. While I don't personally think the story was that interesting, it's not bad either. It feels kind of average. The gameplay is just walking around and reading through dialogue. Animations are very simple, though in a way that feels intentional. The music, when it's there, feels quite fitting. That said, I think there's value in spending a few minutes playing through this game for the art piece that it is, and seen as the whole of all its parts. Because that's how I see it. It may not be Rubens or Munch, but it's a small piece of art worth appreciating, despite(or even because of) its amateuristic flaws. Even the greats were amateurs once. 100% in about 20 minutes.

[i] My Experience [/i] MaryPark St. is a challenge to review. It contains two frustratingly aimless gameplay sections, and in each I considered calling it quits. However - without these sections, would the game so vividly create the emotional experience that it does? There are points in life (or there have been points in my life, at least) where you are so desperate for companionship and connection, that you go on dates with people that you are clearly incompatible with and maintain stale text conversations in the hopes that the two of you will eventually experience some miraculous and magical connection. When self-worth is contingent upon the creation of real relationships from these bad seeds, it can be difficult to perceive that you're trying to draw water from an empty well.
